HS/JH Football

                        The Sedgwick Cardinals had a big week with football wins. The High School team won in blowout fashion on Friday. The Jr. High team had a very close and eventful game.
                   On Thursday, the Cardinals took on the Inman Teutons. The Cardinals came out came out and scored first. They scored on a fifteen-yard touchdown pass to Henry Burns from Mason Lacey. Then, Inman came back with a great play call, and converted on fourth down as Jayden Martin glided into the end zone. Then, Martin came back with thirty-four-yard extra-point, putting them up 7-6. On the final play of the half, Mason threw a perfect strike to Kale Schroeder, who made his first great catch of the night, for a 70-yard touchdown. The night was just getting started, as the score was 14-7.
         In the 3rd, Inman got another touchdown bringing the score to 14-13. With five minutes to go in the 4th, Inman’s Defense stood tall and got a big fourth down stop. Then, they drove down the field and took the lead by a score of 19-14 with 33 seconds left. The Cardinals gained twenty yards before they got the ball. The Inman kickoff team hurt themselves with penalties before the kick. They kicked from the 20-yard line. Sedgwick had good field position. They ran some plays and gained about 15-yards. It all came down to one play. This play was nerve wracking. With a tenth of a second left on the clock, Lacey threw up to Kale Schroeder. The season was on his shoulders. He came through. He came through with leaping play over three Teutons and the Cardinals ended the season in style. Their final record was 6-1.
         On Friday, the High School also took on Inman. The Cardinals came out firing on all cylinders. They were up 45-0 at half. They won 45-16. Grant Hilliard and the receiving core combine for six touchdowns.
